Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) is an autoimmune condition that causes the muscles, eyelids, tear glands, and fatty tissue behind the eye to become inflamed, red, and swollen. This leads to discomfort as the eyes push forward and bulge. This swelling and inflammation may result in eye muscle stiffness that prevents full eye movement, as well as double vision, reduced visual acuity, and eye dryness or ulcers if the eyelids are not able to fully close. Early treatment of TED is encouraged because as it worsens over time it can lead to permanent damage to the eyes and vision loss.

What are the Symptoms of Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)?

  • Dry eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Red or bloodshot eyes
  • Bulging eyes
  • Double vision
  • Difficulty closing eyes completely
  • Pain behind eyes
  • Pain with eye movement
  • Symptoms often occur in both eyes but can occur in one eye only

How can IV Therapy Help my Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)?

CIVIC utilizes a state-of-the-art biologic infusion therapy that can be used to not only alleviate symptoms of Thyroid Eye Disease but to also stop the autoimmune attack that is causing it. This will result in a decrease of eye inflammation, bulging, and pain. It will also help improve or resolve Thyroid Eye Disease symptoms including decreased eye movement and vision changes.
